We are pleased to share that a new research paper from the Statistics and Data Science Research Group, entitled “Estimation After Selection in Seamless Phase II/III Drop-the-Losers Trials with Time-to-Event Endpoints”, authored by Mojammel Haque Sarkar, Mohd. Arshad, and Masihuddin, has been published online in Statistics in Biopharmaceutical Research, Taylor & Francis, on 28 September 2026. The work contributes to statistical methodology for seamless Phase II/III clinical trial designs, with particular emphasis on estimation after treatment selection in Drop-the-Losers designs with time-to-event endpoints. We congratulate the authors on this research achievement.

We are delighted to congratulate Mushir Akhtar, a member of the Statistics and Data Science Research Group, on successfully defending his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Robust and Efficient Machine Learning under Data Uncertainty: From Loss Functions to Data-Aware Representations” on 9 September 2026 at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. His doctoral research was carried out under the supervision of Prof. M. Tanveer and Dr. Mohd. Arshad. His research focused on developing robust and efficient machine learning methodologies, including robust loss functions, adaptive sample-weighting schemes, robust and inversion-free randomized neural networks, and data-aware representation learning. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Mushir Akhtar on this significant academic achievement and wish him continued success in his future research and academic career.

Programme: Statistical Analysis of the Selected Treatment using Drop-the-Losers Designs
This programme had been designed to motivate and engage school students in the field of basic science research by
providing meaningful academic exposure. Through laboratory demonstrations, interactive sessions, and guided visits,
participants had gained first-hand experience of research environments and had understood the crucial role of fundamental
research in advancing scientific knowledge and societal development. By fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and
scientific inquiry, the programme had aimed to cultivate a strong research-oriented mindset among students and had encouraged
them to explore future opportunities in science and technology.
